John Farnham - You're The Voice REACTION video 2012

LONG before reaction videos became all the rage, a singer named Eric Dillard(?) heard John for the first time and went on to describe John's vocal technique and skill. He was impressed to say the least. I don't think Eric or this video is on RUclips anymore. If it is, I'm sorry Eric. Message me and I'll remove it or link to yours.

The concert, celebrating 50 years since the end of the war, was the first production to come from Steve Vizard‘s Artist Services company since its exclusive contract with the Seven Network ...

    This marked a change in Little River Band’s music. It was the first album after Glenn Shorrock departed and was replaced by John Farnham. Farnham must have had a lot of influence in the band because the musical direction changed somewhat.

    I have ocd in many parts of my life that helps and hinders, enjoying music is one that is 50/50 I am nothing special musically I play a few instruments and I understand basic music theory but I constantly find myself upset at the chord progressions and note choices in even my favorite songs by my favorite artists, I often resort to playing the songs myself on whatever instrument I can to try and make it sound how I'd prefer to no avail because I am not good lol it can be an upsetting repetitive cycle when all I want to do is enjoy a song. This performance does something for me that no other song ever has, not only does he make choices that almost instantly alleviate the activity of my ocd but every choice he makes is exactly what I want to hear. It brings me to tears writing this I don't really fully know why but it's as if the buzzing in my head 24/7 quite literally goes away for five minutes and 8 seconds. My mind trusts him almost immediately and my ocd fades away allowing me to truly enjoy the song. I would say for those interested; Aretha Franklin is probably the only other one I can think of that does something similar for me. Freddie Mercury about 70% of the time too, I don't know if it means anything or is just my own weirdness but to me that says something about the quality of music. I listen to a lot of music. lastly, Joshua Ledet's performance of "Jar of Hearts" is another for me <3

    Y'know, it was originally a protest song, a call to arms for people to stand up and be counted against tyranny. So while it's weird hearing it used in a piece supporting a politician, it's also appropriate for it to be a clarion call against a wannabee dictator.

      I’m not American, I’m definitely not anti Kamala, i think she’s wonderful and she has to win. But my concern, is the ‘call to arms’ bit. It literally means - *summons to engage in active hostilities. When the very first person to sing the song, You’re The Voice, Australian John Farnham never had any intention of violence or hostility at all. It’s more about speaking out about what you believe, not engaging in hostility.

    • @PiDsPagePrototypes
      @PiDsPagePrototypes Месяц назад

      @@bernadettelanders7306 I was using it in the more 'stand up to tyranny' mode. One source I saw, the writers intended for it to be a protest song against a Nuclear Power Station in the UK.

      @bernadettelanders7306 Месяц назад

      @@PiDsPagePrototypes Yes I know what the song was written about. I just found the ‘call to bare arms’ wasn’t really needed. If you’ve heard the song sung live by John most of us find it, just standing up for what u believe - even in the lyrics it means .bearing arms isn’t the answer . *We're all someone's daughter We're all someone's son How long can we look at each other Down the barrel of a gun?

      @@PiDsPagePrototypes Yes I know what the song was written about, a protest. But baring arms was a tad much. More about standing up for yourself, not guns, which usually means arms.
